Sorry to hear your newspaper has discontinued Liberty Meadows. Our local
paper only carries the Sunday colour strip which I like very much. For
the daily strip I go here (it is a few days behind but at least I can get
it):

You are right about the comic book...I have been collecting them since
they started coming out (it is up to issue #19 now). They also just
announced a book edition with the colour weekend stuff in it, like they
did for Calvin & Hobbes.
P.S. Like your mother, Groo and Liberty Meadows are the only comics I buy
these days.

Liberty Meadows had become the favorite comic strip in my family. I say
HAD
because the paper we read it in decided to dump it. I am not quite clear
why
and letter writing didn't seem to help.
If you want to try it, the comic strip is being reprinted in comic
book
form. It is about the only comic, other that Groo, that my mother
reads.
