Hi Folks!
Well, I'm not all knowing, but here is the basic scooby-doo on original
cover art and pages. To the best of my knowledge, Sergio has not sold any
covers or pages from Pacific, Eclipse, or Epic/Marvel. However, he sells
pages of Image & Dark Horse Groos at conventions, sold them through art
agent Mark Cohen before Mark died, and sells them to at least one cartoon
art dealer. That gentleman's name is Carsten Lagua and he is based in
Germany and has a catalogue that includes many other artists, such as Walt
Kelly. He has purchased a number of covers and pages over the last few
years and occasionally puts them on ebay.
I am 99% sure that Carsten was the original purchaser of the Image cover
that's currently on ebay. He typically charges $650-$750 for a cover so the
current seller's price is probably cost and he is hoping the bidding goes
up. I think a couple other covers went for over $1,000 last year. $750 is
just too much for me, but if I was going to buy one it would be something
particularly cool, such as cover #2 & #3 of "Mightier Than The Sword"
