Hi Mark,

I've been reading some of your POV articles about the great comedians from
radio and TV who had already been around for 30 years when guys our age were
watching them in our living rooms as kids. Although picking a favorite is
kind of dumb, if I had to I think it would be Jack Benny. Not just because
I found him very funny-often with just a look or mannerism-but for, as you
discussed, not being afraid to let his regulars and his guests have good
lines and having himself be the butt of many of the jokes. And when I heard
his old radio shows decades after they were originally on, I was amazed
audiences of the time accepted Eddie Robinson getting the best of him and
that Benny had the nerve to let the part be written that way.

If you've written a full article on Mr. Benny, I missed it. Do you have any
Jack Benny stories?

Thanks-Gary G.
