I think it does. Joss Whedon, the creator of Angel, is known for=20
inserting sometimes-obscure, sometimes-mainstream pop references into=20
his work, often with subtlety as without. The simple-minded, longhaired=20=
warrior on the show made me think of Groo as soon as I saw him, and=20
then a few episodes later one of the main characters shortens his name=20=
and calls him "Groo" from them on.
