Theer's no way to tell whether or not this is a "freebie" sketch or one
commissioned at a con, but copyright holders (such as Marvel for
Wolverine) aren't going after comic book artists who do convention
sketches for money because they like the publicity. I would tend to
think Sergio is fine with his peers doing a con sketch of Groo with
another character for a fan. Of course, if someone set up a booth and
started soliciting $100 bucks a pop for lame Groo sketches, that might
be something Sergio would complain about, but I don't see that
happening.

Of course, you do have the right to resell your property, whether it is
was given to you for free or paid for (commissioned). What we in the
Groop often object to as a matter of principle is folks who solicit
freebie sketches with the intent of selling them. Those are the folks
whom we aim our (mothballed) Intercontinental Ballistic Cheesedip
Missiles at...

Now, scanned reproductions of comic book pages are self-publishing and
thus violates copyright laws.
