[Groop] Dumb old GrooGrams!

Unfortunately, as far as I know I do not have any letters
published in the Groo Grams. Even though I read the Groo stories
religiously along with the Groo Grams I always remained a Groo Gram
"lurker." It was only after I read issue #100, where Groo learns to
read, I decided to write a letter to Groo Grams. Perhaps I was inspired,
or maybe even educated enough by the teachings to Groo by the Librarian,
to finally write a letter myself.
Sometime after issue 100 we were informed (I think through Groo
Grams) the Groo comic series from Epic/Marvel would be ending at issue
120 then switch to another publisher. Perhaps some of you may think
this is sacrilege, but I decided then I would stop collecting Groo after
purchasing #120. I think I was ending high school by then and actually
believed I had more important things to do and thought I had better
things to spend my money on... little did I know. Obviously now I am on
this list and STILL trying to collect Groo stuff.
When I wrote my letter to Groo Grams along with the great praise
of the Groo series in it I confessed I would stop collecting Groo at
120. By the end of the 120th issue I had not yet seen my letter
published in any of the Groo Grams, so I simply figured Mark and Sergio
did not want to print such a disparaging letter. Either that or they
just take their sweet time to put letters into print. Or maybe with
their great sense of humor to mess with me they printed it in as a Groo
Gram in the next publication series as a joke... with only me never
getting to read the punch line.
A couple of years after when I could not find any new Groo
comics on the racks and heard its run had ended a part of me was
crushed. I felt I had contributed to the decline in Groo interest enough
to help force it to end. I swore then if I ever had children of my own,
whether seeded by me or adopted, I would read the entire Groo comic
series one by one to each of my children as bed time stories so they
could carry on the sword. Either that or the slight sleep deprivation
would drive them to become dairy farmers for the added benefit of eating
cheese dip and working with mulch. As of yet I have no offspring, but
then again it did not help my last girlfriend, even though a comic book
fan, actually disliked Groo... hence why she is an X -girlfriend! :)
