[Groop] Not OT.

That's more than a little odd... I've had a similar thought for a while now.  In all honesty, the 25th Anniversary Special nearly made me quit reading Groo altogether (well, new Groo at least).  I felt like I was being beaten about the head and shoulders with a political agenda.

Thankfully, my wonderful girlfriend (who thus far stubbornly refuses to marry me... although it's 'not ready yet', rather than just 'no', *sigh*...) got me a copy of Hell on Earth, which I enjoyed quite a bit more, although it still wasn't up to the level of even the Censorship issue- the one with Bowdler, and in my opinion, one of the weakest of the Epic 'topical' stories... #78, according to a quick Google search, which is faster than digging through the collection.

I guess I'm with Mo/Al- topical is all well and good, but when the topic overtakes the story, you get quasi-political commercials rather than Groo.  And, while politics are funny enough in their own way, they're NOT why I love Groo.

Cheers,
David

I've got some questions for some of you fine folks. I realize that ME is a part of the list, which is great... but it seems there are certain things we don't discuss here because of his presence. Perhaps he can skip this thread altogether.

1. I'm wondering what some of your actual opinions are regarding the quality of the Groo stories since the guys moved to Dark Horse. Compared in particular to the Epic run. Am I the only one who sees them as heavy handed and not as fun as "classic" Groo?

2. How do you rate the 4-part stories against the old stand alone issues? What are the plusses/minuses of either format?
