[Groop] alcohol @ top posting

Jonny & Ryan,
I myself do not drink alcohol at all.
When I was a teen I worked as a bar-back at a
bar/billiards-hall/restaurant and could see first hand how stupid some
people got. Also, while working there I encountered many women, who
stated they prefer more sober guys, but unfortunately there are not too
many social venues to meet people at better than bars. I had some very
pleasant conversations with some of the female customers there, and even
though I was a teen I was given a number of phone numbers because they
did not realize I was under-age. :-)
When in college I also worked as a night-time security guard
at a residential building in New York City, which was uptown along a
strip of bars on 2nd Avenue. Not only did I get to see drunken stupidity
from people while working at that bar/restaurant/pool-hall, I also was
"lucky" enough to see how idiotic drunk people get after they exit the
bars. There were a number of dumb and jack-ass acts, which I was witness
too and might rival something Groo would do.
One instance, which stands out in particular was when one
dude walked up to the outside entry-way of the building I worked at with
some of his buddies. They were all joking loudly and laughing in an
intoxicated state when the one guy zipped open his pants, whipped out
his noodle, and preceded to wiz directly in my line of sight with his
friends laughing at him because they knew I could see. If that was not
bad enough, the urinating fool was actually unaware of my presence and
was in fact drawing a big happy face with his urine stream. Let us just
say his happy face ended up turning into a sneer with a cigar trailing
off because when I came out he ran off peeing on himself with his
willy-dink still dangling.
Besides being completely straight-edged (sober and
drug-free) myself, some of my truly best friends are recovered
alcoholics. They were good people before they stopped drinking, but once
they kicked the habit they were better for it even more so.
John T.,
As for the indulgences of Gary and myself, I am surprised I
was second on that list. I know I tend to be quite verbose in my
writing, but in the past months I thought I stepped back quite a bit
from posting to the Groop. I had a lot going on (new job, charity event
organization, holidays, Xbox 360!), so I am surprised I resulted in
being the second top poster. Alas, I still will never be able to surpass
the extent of Gary's Groo-abilities. :-)
By the way, even though I may have stepped away from Groo
and the Groop in the past couple of months, I have to admit I did JUST
pick up my reserved copies of the first two "Hell on Earth" books today.
I suppose that constitutes moderation since I did not kick the Groo
habit. :-)
