[Groop] The Big Fight at the National in NYC

Yesterday, I was thinking that comedy is so subjective. What's
really funny to one person may not be funny at all to another
person. It depends on your background and your likes and dis-
likes. In addition, if the joke is about current events, it depends
on how much you know about the current events.
For example, I was watching Frank Caliendo videos on youtube.com.
Frank does voice impressions of celebrities. I think he's really funny!
But if you don't watch sports, then his John Madden, Jim Rome, and
Charles Barkeley impressions are meaningless. If you didn't watch
Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Robert DeNiro, or Al Pacino (all older TV and
movie stars), then these impressions are meaningless. Finally, if
you're not up to date on the election (current events), then his
George Bush, Barack Obama, and John McCain impressions are mean-
ingless. When Frank appears on talk shows (like the Tonight Show)
on TV, watch the other guests. The other guests don't laugh at
every impression -- only the ones that are funny to them, depend-
ing on their background.
Anyway, sorry Mark and Larry came to fisticuffs about comedy.
It's not worth fighting over. Plus, it's probably not possible to con-
vince someone that something is funny.
