i definitely remember seeing it before it was posted to the groop, so i think it was used as an ad in various (probably only image) comics at the time.

I have one.  It’s 8.5” x
11” and I’m not sure where I got it.  Probably from my local
comic book shop.  I don’t think it was ever printed in a
publication.  I think it was only a stand alone advertisement distributed to
comic book shops.  But I could be wrong.  The Groo & Rufferto are
from the cover of Image Groo #1.
