[Groop] Where were you?

I was also on the way back from a comic shop with a couple friends in their mom's car. It was 1984, I was 12. No one got Groo that day, but one of us found an ad on the back of one of our Marvels about a barbarian who was trying to make the world safe for cheese dip. That sounded like our kind of thing, so when the Marvel/Epic #1 came out we were on the lookout for it. I bought it and many subsequent issues at my local corner grocery store (which also had no central AC - it was quite a ramshackle place actually). I didn't know Sergio or Mark's work prior to this, or even that Groo was already around. Once we learned though, we later went back to the various comic book shops tracking down the Pacific and Eclipse issues.

memories...

ON the same page sort of....and i think i told this story before so if so sorry...

but here my favorite passing the groo story of mine.. I just got back from the comic shop and was at a friends house where i was looking at the new comic pile,.. and my buddy found Groo and started reading it because he said he only liked funny comics... so of course he was LOL at it...then later i asked hey do have any more of those. So when he came over I gave him a big pile of Groo to read, we went to his mom and dads house to eat dinner. leaving the pile on the kithen table...

after dinner he was in the living room watching TV when he heared his dad LOL from the kitchen saying goofy son of B*&%$ch... after slowing walking to kitchen because he never heard his dad laugh like this in years...

well he found his dad at the table reading the Groo's he looked up asking him where these come from... well there Dougie's... his dad OHHH OK Dougie... that makes since.. later my buddy called me and said his dad wanted to know if he could ge more... I LOVE THAT STORY...
