I was in the Army and just got stationed in Berlin germany 1985 (before the wall went down. I had been a fan of MAD for a long time and also National Lampoon. Well national Lampoon came out with a book called Doon a parody of Dune, well there was this advertisement of a new kind of comic book called Groo the Wanderer by we know who huh. Well when I got back to the states I went looking for a copy of it and found one on a newstand in NYC. Since that first reading I became hooked and the rest is as they say history.
