[Groop] ebay photo-stat

Hi Anil! (And everyone else)

Sergio has not sold any pages from the Epics, Pacifics, or the Eclipse
Special. His plan for quite some time now has been to sell each issue
as a unit rather than sell individual pages, as he has done with the
Images and Dark Horse issues. He thinks of those issues as his wife and
daughter's inheritance.

Other than (some) covers, there are no "draft" pages. Sergio does
incredibly loose blue pencils on the page he will ink and that's about
it. Some part of the pencils might be more detailed if he needs to make
sure the logistics of the drawing work.

I have seen a couple of drawings that could be termed "drafts" of covers
from the Pacific days, one is a simple version of Pacific #5 and one was
for a Pacific cover that was never used. I assume there might be
others, but those are the only two I know about.

And by the way, the 1981 Groo drawing that recently came up on ebay was
advertised as having been a Mad Marginal. That is not correct. That
drawing was not part of a Marginal. Years ago I looked in all of the
Mad's from 1977 on and the first Groo appearance in a Marginal in #246,
April, 1984. Of course, a Groo drawing dated 1981 is cool all by
itself. (But I have too many bills to buy it.)

We are the biggest Groo FanTards, and nobody here would pay that much.

Good call Gary. Always enjoy your emails.

Has Sergio ever sold any pages of his epic Groos? How about drafts of
pages?

-Anil

Hi Folks!

This gentleman has tried to sell this before. This time $1080. Last
time it was for $1700.

It's JUST a photostat!!! Yes, it's a cool photostat that was used in
the process of making the advertisement in StarSlayer #4, but it's still
just a photostat! For $1000 you buy two Groo pages. You buy two
really, really cool drawings from Sergio at a Con, like one with Groo
and a bunch of the recurring characters and another of Groo in a fray.
And those would be real drawings with real ink and stuff. Not
photocopies.

When I contacted him the first time and gently told him it was not worth
$1700, he actually got offended and told me he was huge Groo fan and
blah, blah, blah. Well, the old photostat is worth something. But it
ain't worth no $1700 or $1080!!
