Wow - thanks for passing along that bit of trivia.  I've got Destroyer Duck #1 buried somewhere in my c.b. collection and completely forgot it had a Groo story in it, not to mention the first published Groo story.

As Ryan said, no authorized digital versions available.  The Groo story your looking for was the very first published story.  It was in Destroyer Duck #1 put ot by Eclipse in 1982.  It was reprinted (actually redrawn) for The Groo Chronicles in 1989.  That came in a hardback edition that is expensive, but also in 6 extra big comic books.  The story you want is in Chronicles #2.  That all being said, Destroyer Duck #1 is probably the easiest to find.
