Speaking of other great new comics....The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
(the two comic series, not the abomination that was the movie) is just
terrific. So many references to literature and pop culture. Definitely
worth checking out.
(sidenote: anyone read "From Hell", one of the most incredible comic series
ever, which was horribly made into another botched Alan Moore movie?)

Breaking out of my usual lurkerdom to give my two cents on what comics I'm
reading lately...
Seeing as Cerebus is nearing it's final issue 300, I've bought a few more of
the trade paperbacks... it's been getting a lot of flack since Dave Sim came
out with anti-feminist rants, but I'd rather just analyze the work itself than
the man behind us.
I've also been reading Sam Kieth's "The Maxx" heavily, for some reason his
art style just intrigues me.
I'm also sure to pick up anything Mike Allred is doing (check out "Vertical,"
one-shot recently released from Vertigo, released in an uber-groovy format),
and I've read all the Frank Miller Daredevil TPBs, I'd highly recommend them,
noteably "Born Again."
The only constant in my tastes in comics is Groo... I've been buying the
whole collection slowly and steadily since I was in grade school, an issue here
and an issue there (except the recent Dark Horse issues, which I buy as soon as
they come out). The concept and the character is just one of the tightest I'd
ever seen, as an aspiring cartoonist it's one of those things I go "jeez! I
wish I would have thought of that!" because it's an idea you can work within
for the rest of your life.
