[Groop] Julie Schwartz

I know we're ALL reading Mark Evanier's blog every
day, right? (See links in my footer) Just in case
anyone missed this, Julius Schwartz is Ill and Mark is
gathering well wishes for the man.

If you don't know Julie, and you should, he was the
Classic DC Comics Editor who spearhead the creation of
The Silver Age Flash, The Justice League (or
recreation of the Justice Society into the Justice
League), heck much of Silver Age DC Comics!

Before that he and a couple of others INVENTED the
Fanzine, hell he and his friends invented Organized
Fandom! He became a literary agent and pulp fiction
publisher, and gave Ray Bradbury his first break! 

If I'm not mistaken, this is from memort so I'll
probably screw this up (HELP, MARK!) Julie represented
legends like Isaac Asimov and HP Lovecraft as well. To
call Julie a mover and shaker, and guiding force
behind the creation of Sci-Fi as a genre, the revival
of superhero comics in the early 1960's is a HELL of
an understatement.

He is more importantly one of the nicest, kindest,
most generous men ever to walk the earth. If you've
ever had the chance to talk to him, you know he loves
fans the way Sergio loves fans, is that praise enough?
 Anyway, send Julie your greetings through this
special email address Mark set up!
