[Groop] Question for Mark

Mark,
I'm not sure what kind of the stuff the Con does, as distinct from what Dark
Horse might want to do. But since Groo was completely ignored by the Con
when it had its 20th anniversary, how about The Con doing what it does for
other great creations' anniversaries and having other artists submit their
homage to Groo for publication in the Con program?
My two cents on a T-shirt would be to use the art from the signature plate
from the Groo Chronicles Hardback edition. (Which was once a planned
T-shirt-it was advertised in Advance in 1991-but it never happenned). The
art's already done and only some anniversary title would have to be added.
Groo and all the repeating characters would be perfect for an anniversary
T-shirt. I'd buy half a dozen. At least.
For the 20th anniversary there was a button the size of a quarter. Everyone
liked it and I sent about 100 of them to Groopies around the world. How
about a card this time? Like maybe the size of a postcard? That could
actually be used as a postcard like the one that came with the lunch box.
In the past you've talked about the possibility of a "Limited Edition"
giveaway for folks who attend the annual Groo Panel. Maybe something like a
mug or a baseball cap or key chain. (Of course, enough would have to be
made for me to send one to everyone in the Groop too. Especially Shawn if
it were a baseball cap)
As far as a Groo Anniversary Special, aside from any original stuff that you
& Sergio want to put into it (maybe you envision it as all original), if you
want to include anything like scans of Interternational Groo covers or
panels, the first known published drawing of Groo, or anything like that,
well, you know where I live. I've also got the total number of Groo pages,
covers, Groo Gram letters and other silly and pointless numbers. A lot fo
the kind of information that one might expect in an anniversary issue
(history, rare drawings, etc.) was already done in the Chronicles.
If a full sized Groo Special is too much to accomplish because of schedules
and timing, maybe a little 4 or 8 page original story mini-comic.
I love Greg's idea, but I'm guessing it's maybe too much work to pull it off
properly and too early and maybe too something else as well.
Anywho, that's my Two Kopins.
Take care all -Gary G.
